On October 21st at the Vogue theater in SF Porch light joins forces with CinemaSF to Keep Independent Cinema Alive in San Francisco.
San Francisco, CA — Porchlight, San Francisco’s longest-running storytelling series, is partnering with CinemaSF to bring the magic of live stories and independent film together under one roof. This collaboration celebrates local voices, fosters community, and raises funds to ensure that San Francisco’s independent cinema tradition continues to thrive.
For over two decades, Porchlight has provided a stage for storytellers of every stripe—authors, comedians, musicians, and everyday San Franciscans—to share true stories, unscripted and from the heart. CinemaSF, which has recently gained nonprofit status, is dedicated to continuing its role as a champion of independent and international film. Together, they’re creating a cultural crossroads where story and cinema meet.The partnership kicks off with “Lights, Camera, Traction: Perilous Tales of Movie Making” presented at the historic Vogue Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 7:00 pm.
Hosted by Porchlight co-founders Beth Lisick and Arline Klatte, storytellers for this raucous evening will include comedian Scott Capurro; founder of Runaway Films Amanda Micheli; actor, writer, and everyone’s cousin Susan Mohun; director, playwright, and producer Jonathan Moscone; actor, mentalist, and tour guide Reed Kirk Rahlmann and filmmaker Keelan Williams. The evening will also feature music from Marc Capelle, Porchlight’s musical director.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting CinemaSF and its mission to keep neighborhood theaters alive and accessible to the community.
